The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 comes in a regular laptop box with one of the corners cut out to show the laptop. The box is black and has ThinkPad written in white on the top right corner of the cover. On one side, there is an image of the laptop with the screen open and another image of it closed. 

On the other side, there is an advertisement for Lenovo’s security software. I opened the lid to find a Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 review manual and two Lenovo promotional cards. Inside the laptop bag that was attached to the laptop box, I found four warranty papers, three stickers, four informational papers about Intel technologies (such as 11th-generation processors), and four informational papers about features of this specific model such as its keyboard backlighting. 

It took me about 20 minutes to read all of the papers because they were long, but they answered most of my questions. Overall, I’m satisfied with my Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 unboxing experience! The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 comes in a variety of configurations and prices. The base model starts at $849 with a Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, 256GB hard drive, and a 15.6-inch display. 

Weighing in at 4.3 pounds and boasting a 10-hour of battery life, the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 is a well-designed laptop that performs well in any situation. In addition to its other great features, the Lenovo ThinkPad E15’s 1920×1080 FHD LED IPS touchscreen makes it easy to use on a daily basis.

Design & Build Quality

It is also worth noting that Lenovo’s designers were able to keep everything sleek and clean even though they chose to add a fingerprint reader which some users will find handy. The laptop’s overall build quality is excellent as well and it feels very solid to hold although its weight may be considered too heavy by some users.

Display

The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 is a desktop replacement laptop that offers a lot of power for the money. It has a 15.6 display with 1920×1080 HD resolution with TN Anti-glare 220nits which is great for multitasking. The display is great overall and it has nice colors. 

This will depend on what you are planning to use it for since people who watch a lot of movies won’t be complaining about a little extra red in their color accuracy as compared to more professional users who do photo and video editing on their computers. The resolution of 1920×1080 has been fine for my needs and I haven’t noticed any lack of quality. 

It would be nice to have a higher-resolution display but it isn’t a necessity in my opinion. The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 is my favorite laptop for a few reasons. One is its ability to use an external digital monitor with a resolution of 4K(3840×2160). The other is the performance and specs of the laptop. 

Lenovo has come out with a machine that has everything you need for business purposes in this one package. I have had this laptop for a few weeks now and I am quite happy with it. It has been a very well-designed machine that can do anything I ask of it without hesitation. Overall, it is worth the money because of how functional it is.

Keyboard, touchpad, and trackpad

The keyboard and trackpad are both very well designed. The keys are spaced out just right and the trackpad is smooth to the touch. The keyboard uses Lenovo’s AccuType design, which means each individual key is well spaced out from each other and well separated from any surrounding plastic. 

While these keys aren’t mechanical like some of its competitors they do offer a good typing experience overall. The same can be said about its trackpad as it also offers a smooth surface that makes controlling your cursor extremely easy. I’ve owned many laptops over the years and by far Lenovo has produced my favorite trackpads to date. 

The trackpad experience of this laptop is good. It’s responsive and easy to use. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it doesn’t always pick up gestures when scrolling. But the most important thing about a laptop trackpad is how well it functions in day-to-day tasks and the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2-22 does an excellent job with all these tasks. The touchpad experience of this laptop is generally good. 

It has a very accurate and smooth scrolling function that feels natural to use. The only issue I have with it is the lack of buttons on the pad. In order to click or tap you must use the trackpad itself and it’s easy to accidentally move your finger off of the pad when doing so. 

Other than that, the touchpad experience is great! There are no scroll bars which can be annoying at times. Overall, though, the touchpad experience of this laptop is quite good and if you’re considering buying one then you should know what to expect beforehand.

Specs & Performance

The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 is a 15.6 laptop with a 1920×1080 FHD display and an Intel Quad-Core i5-1135G7 (Beats i7-10510U) with a ‎2.4 GHz processor. It comes with 16/32GB of RAM and an ‎Intel Iris Xe graphics card. It starts with a 256GB SSD that is up to 1TB. 

With these specs, the Lenovo Thinkpad provides a great balance of design and performance for everyday use. The Lenovo Thinkpad E15 is also very versatile with 1 USB-A 3.1 port, 1 thunderbolt 4 port, 1 USB Type C port, a memory card reader slot, an ethernet jack, and separate jacks for headphones and a microphone. 

It has built-in Wifi as well as Bluetooth capabilities to connect your devices wirelessly or even connect an external Bluetooth mouse or keyboard if you prefer to work that way. In terms of performance, The Lenovo Thinkpad also delivers. It’s great for professionals and hobbyists alike. There’s plenty of space to store work documents or photos from your travels. 

And all of your projects can be accessed with incredible speed via its lightning-fast solid-state drive. Overall, we found that it performed well for daily computing tasks but could struggle with more resource-heavy applications such as video editing software or demanding graphic design applications. 

However, given that most people don’t use their laptops to do either of these things on a regular basis it is unlikely to be an issue. Overall, the CPU is strong enough to handle video processing, which I use frequently because of how often I travel for work.

Software & Features

The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 comes loaded with Windows 10/11 Pro. You can also choose to upgrade to Windows Pro for faster performance. The Lenovo browser is preloaded, and a variety of other software programs come preinstalled on the machine. Lenovo updates the firmware automatically and makes the latest patches available for download. 

The laptop comes with several practical applications and features. For example, you can easily upload media to your favorite cloud storage for easy access from any device. Data encryption is available in case you travel outside of secure wireless zones. You will also find a webcam that offers 720p HD video quality, an integrated microphone, and a 3D camera on board.

Great Audio Quality

The audio quality is above average for a laptop. The speakers are located on the left and right sides of the keyboard. They do have a slightly tinny sound to them but are not too bad and certainly better than most laptops at this price point. The audio quality gets louder than most laptops at maximum volume levels. 

You will not want to use them while watching a movie or listening to music but they are loud enough if you need to speak with someone on Skype or through your VoIP application. The speaker grills are large and allow for plenty of airflow for better sound reproduction as well as heat dissipation. 

There are also four small slots that can be opened up near the front edge of the notebook which provides an even more powerful bass response from these slimline speakers. The audio system has been designed by Lenovo in conjunction with JBL Sound, who designed some of the most popular consumer speakers on the market today. 

The 20W built-in stereo speaker system utilizes Dolby Audio Premium software which provides high-definition surround sound without any additional equipment needed like external speakers or a subwoofer. Lenovo claims the sound system has been optimized for video conferencing and voice calls. 

Is it worth your money? (Price, Value, & Recommendations)

The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 is a well-designed machine that has an attractive price point. While its performance is nothing to write home about, it does perform well for the tasks it’s intended for. The keyboard and touchpad are two of the best features of this laptop. If you’re looking for a laptop in the $1000 range that can do light work, this one should be on your list of contenders.

As previously mentioned, there are several tests and benchmarks you should run on any laptop that you’re considering for purchase. These may vary a bit depending on which type of laptop you’re looking at but there are some standard ones that all laptops should be able to pass with flying colors. Here are a few things to look for and test when testing a new laptop. 

The first thing is a general everyday performance with basic tasks like web surfing and word processing. Lenovo touts up to 7 times faster speeds with this model than previous versions. It also scored impressive scores on benchmark tests including PC Mark 10 and Cinebench R15. 

Another aspect of its performance was an antutu benchmark result that revealed it had a whopping 5559 rating. One final aspect of the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 worth mentioning is the laptop’s specs and performance. 

Heat Ventilation System & Awkward Fan Noise 

The laptop’s heat system does a good job of distributing the heat from the CPU evenly throughout the laptop chassis, which helps keep it cool. The system’s four intake fans and three exhaust ports help keep hot air from accumulating inside and causing overheating. Even under prolonged load—like a long game of Overwatch—the laptop didn’t get uncomfortably warm in my lap or on my desk. 

The bottom did get warm to the touch, but never hotter than I would expect it to be after long periods of use. As an added bonus, there are plenty of vents and other openings around the sides of the laptop to ensure that you can feel air coming out even when sitting at an angle. 

On top of this, the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 features Lenovo’s Active Cooling System, which automatically adjusts fan speeds based on how much heat is being produced by your processor. At idle, the system will only have one fan running; during light workloads, two fans will spin; during more intense tasks like video editing or gaming, all four will kick in. 

These cooling systems work well, ensuring that the laptop remains as cool as possible without any annoying noise. The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 is a well-designed machine with a lot of features. It’s not the most powerful laptop on the market but it does offer great performance for daily use. The only thing that I didn’t like about this laptop is that it does make noise when operating. 

For example, while running on battery power or when plugged in and running at full capacity, there are clicking noises coming from inside the laptop. These clicks can be heard while sitting in an office environment where you have to focus to hear anything else or in an open area such as a library. 

In these instances, I would say that it can be distracting to have your attention drawn away from what you’re doing just because of some click sounds. Luckily, when I was at home at my desk working remotely through Wi-Fi, I didn’t notice any of these noises. So if you plan to buy this laptop, be aware that it makes sound while working.

Battery life & Charging

The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022’s battery life is well within the expected range for a machine of this caliber. In our testing, we were able to get around 10 hours of use out of the machine with Wi-Fi turned off and brightness set to 40%. Charging time was also on par with other machines in its class. We were able to fully charge it in about an hour and a half.

Its 6-cell Li-ion battery is rated at 44 watt hours and provides up to 10 hours of usage time on a single charge. The Lenovo ThinkPad E15 2022 has a 44-watt-hour battery. This is an appropriate size for a laptop of its power and size. 10 hours of battery life is also very reasonable considering it has a 15-screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution and an Intel Core i5 processor. 

It also comes with an AC adapter rated at 180 watts. The charging time was decent. We were able to fully charge it in about two hours using a 40-watt power supply and one hour and 20 minutes using a 90-watt power supply. It performs great during our tests.
