Lauren answered:
“You were implying it.”
The conversation became uncomfortable.
Nobody was publicly humiliated.
Nobody stormed out.
Margaret considered her words and eventually changed the subject.
Small.
Important.
Lauren no longer required Ethan to fight every battle for her.
