“Then why didn’t you want me to meet her?”
Lauren started crying again.
“Because I started seeing her through Margaret’s eyes.”
That was the first fully honest sentence of the conversation.
Ethan looked away.
It hurt him.
Not because Lauren’s background embarrassed him.
Because the woman he intended to marry had hidden something essential about herself and treated someone who loved her as disposable.

“Are you calling off the wedding?”
