“And dropped it beside the bathtub.”
“That’s the scratch.”
She gave a small, broken laugh.
Then read my note.
Her tears fell onto the paper.
I waited.

“You kept your promise.”
“Yes.”

I looked at her.
“The locket was always yours.”
