Lucien and I went through the city behind the police escort with my hands shaking so hard I could barely work the phone, and I called Zora over and over, and on the fifth ring she answered in a whisper.
“We’re barricaded in the bedroom,” she breathed.
“He’s hitting the door with something.
Ondine, he’s trying to get through the door.”
“Do not open it,” I said.
