The World’s Oldest Dog, Maggie, Passes Away

Brian, Maggie’s owner, has been very blessed to have had Maggie by his side for as long as he has. Sadly, dogs don’t live as long as humans and often live significantly shorter lives than we do. However, Maggie’s experience shows that our furry friends can live happy and healthy lives much longer than we once imagined possible with the proper care and affection.

Dog lovers would all agree that a dog’s lifespan is too short. The average dog lives 10 to 15 years, which is simply not enough time to spend with our closest companions.

Dog owners who are lucky enough to keep their beloved pets longer than usual know their luck.

The owner of Maggie, an Australian Kelpie who previously claimed the prestigious title of “World’s Longest Living Dog”, knew how lucky he was to have such a lovely lady.

The dog’s owner Brian believes Maggie was 30 years old when she died quietly in 2015. However, he lacks any official documentation to support his claim.

The previous record dog died in 1939 after living for 29 years.

Maggie enjoyed a good, long life regardless of the record she broke, and her family paid her a public honor.

Maggie continued to the end while living on a farm with her family. She continued walking to the local office, making sure to stop along the way to growl at any curious neighborhood cats she encountered. The important thing, you know.

She was happiest when she was with her favorite people.

Although her human father is naturally saddened by the loss of his loyal friend, he is glad that she died without suffering. She spent her last days with her family practically without suffering. Brian came to terms with the idea of leaving them as he understood her time on earth was coming to an end.

Maggie’s long life was something to be proud of, not lamented. Still, it’s challenging to feel grief over the loss of a pet who lived such a beautiful, full life.

To be honest, we can’t help but feel a little envious of Maggie’s family. If (at least absolutely!) all our dogs lived to be 30 years old.

As we learn more about the ideal ways to care for our pets, this may not be the last time we hear a similar story. Future? Maybe one of our readers will one day own a pet that can beat Maggie’s record!
