According to sources on the ground and online, it is true that the Golden Globes Ethics Board has canceled Whoopi Goldberg’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Whoopi was preparing for her big night, planning to wear her signature purple dress and a new hairstyle until she received the news that Keanu Reeves would be receiving the award instead. Although nobody has an issue with Reeves receiving the award, Whoopi agreed to attend the show but made a conscious decision to keep to herself and not cause any trouble.
Showrunner Joe Barron reportedly stated that they have three security guards on hand in case Whoopi gets out of hand or if Will Smith shows up. Tom Cruise, who was also snubbed from the show, expressed his disagreement with the banning of personalities but agreed that it was a good idea in Whoopi’s case. He went on to say, “That woman is off the rails. She’s the reason I turned down Ghost.”
Whoopi was also snubbed for the Oscars this year. Some have speculated that she won’t receive any awards until she apologizes to Kyle Rittenhouse. Others believe that it may be because she wasn’t technically “in” anything.
