Episode 5. THE MAN FROM MY PAST

The man in the photograph was Victor Hale.

 

Years earlier, after my father’s funeral, Victor had been responsible for managing my inheritance. I remembered him promising me that everything would remain safe. So why was Daniel meeting him in secret?

Inside Room 407, the woman opened her folder and spread several bank statements across the table. “Three million dollars disappeared from Emily’s account,” she said. Daniel looked terrified.

“And every transfer leads back to you.” I couldn’t stand outside any longer. I pushed open the door. Both of them jumped in surprise.

“Who is she?” I demanded. “And what happened to my money?” Then the woman calmly reached into her pocket. Her answer changed everything.
