Moving Robe Woman (Tȟašína Máni) — The Hunkpapa Lakota Woman Who Rode Into The Battle Of Little Bighorn After Learning Her Brother Had Been Killed
Sitting Bull, though not himself a Ghost Dancer, allowed the dance to continue in his community and was seen by McLaughlin as using the movement to maintain his influence over the reservation Lakota.
McLaughlin ordered Sitting Bull’s arrest.
On December 15, 1890, Indian Police officers arrived at Sitting Bull’s cabin to detain him.
In the confrontation that followed, Sitting Bull was killed — shot by a police officer during a struggle — along with several other men including one of his sons.
Moving Robe Woman had known Sitting Bull her entire life.
He was the spiritual and political leader of the Hunkpapa.
He had led the Sun Dance in which the vision of Little Bighorn had been received.
