There was the sound of a struggle, and Sabrina’s voice rising — calling Mason’s name, telling them to stop. Then Abraham, cold and deliberate: “Not the face.
This has to look like a robbery when the police come.”
Hayden made himself listen to the rest, though every second of it took something out of him. He sat on the floor beside the faint stains until the sun came up.
When he finally stood, he was no longer only a grieving husband. He was a trained operative with evidence in his pocket, and he knew exactly where he was going to start.
