Chris Rock’s recent remarks regarding Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship have sparked some debate. The couple has been together for more than 25 years and the media has focused much attention on their marriage. However, the situation worsened.
After Jada Pinkett Smith went public with their affair, Chris Rock called Will Smith to express his grief, but Will Smith reportedly did not answer.
The 58-year-old comic poked fun at Will and Jada’s relationship during the last ten minutes of his new Netflix comedy special, which aired live on Saturday night.
The couple has two children and has been together for over 25 years. Jada admitted to being in a relationship with rapper August Alsin when she and Will “officially split” in 2020 on her Facebook show “Red Table Talk.”
Rock hinted during his appearance that Will still harbored a grudge against the relationship and turned it against him when he punched the comedian on stage at the 2022 Oscars.
Rock noted during his comedy special, “Will Smith practices selective outrage because everybody knows what happened.” “That – that has nothing to do with me. I wasn’t involved in anything.”
“Well, so Will Smith’s wife f–ed her son’s friend. Normally I wouldn’t talk about it– but for some reason, they put it on the Internet,” he added. Rock went on to claim that he tried to contact Will after Jada went public with her affair, despite “everyone in the world” calling him a “b——.”
“I tried to call the f— mother and express my sympathies. She didn’t pick up,” the comedian said.
Afterward, Rock claimed that he had long respected Will before the Oscars. He noted, “I watched him open for Run-DMC at the Nassau Coliseum. I’ve been a fan of Will Smith my whole life because he’s made some fantastic movies.
He later shed light on the fact that he is now watching the 2022 film “Emancipation,” in which Will portrays a slave who escapes from a Louisiana plantation to see himself “scream.”
When Insider reached out to Will Smith’s representatives for comment after hours, they were awaiting a response.
Regardless of how people feel about the situation, it’s clear that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are pretty tense about it. The pair have always kept their personal lives very quiet, so when Jada came out and admitted she was having an affair with August Alsina, it came as a shock to everyone.
The circumstance also highlighted the more general issue of infidelity in partnerships. While some may see adultery as a forgivable sin, others see it as a serious breach of trust.
