The fact that she had a belt handy in the car tells me that she uses it often. Probably the reason for the kid taking the car.
I’m not justifying his behavior, I’m just saying that the belt was a little too convenient to have for punishment purposes.

Don’t misunderstand me, I am not for abuse, but if they are disciplined, we would have less crime and more respectful people.
How did this kid even get ahold of the keys. Usually, the owner of the car would keep them in their pocket, or have them locked up some place where no one but authorized people can get to the keys.
Since this kid had done this before, I would have just called the cops on him. Let him and his friend spend some time in jail for a couple of days.
