Oklahoma Police Officer Receives Coffee Labeled With ‘Pig’ At Starbucks

The police officer was shocked to see that a Starbucks employee had labelled the coffee cups with the word “PIG” in lieu of his name after he had ordered beverages for the dispatchers with whom he works.

Nonetheless, the corporate office was fast to handle the matter and provided an unexpected answer once the episode became viral.

An Oklahoma police officer went to a nearby Starbucks and placed several sugary drink orders as a token of appreciation for the dispatchers’ hard work. The Kiefer Police Chief Johnny O’mara wasn’t too pleased to learn that his order carrier and returned to the station only to find that his ticket didn’t have the name he had provided the barista just minutes before.

The word “PIG” appeared on the drinks in bold print in place of the officers’ names. The chief used social media to challenge the idea that staff can no longer provide customer service without expressing their political ideas after being shocked by the racism that one of his officers experienced at the hands of a complete stranger, according to Blue Lives Matter.

O’MARA noted, “This is what he gets for being polite,” after one of my on-duty officers did something kind for our dispatchers.

The manager at the Glenpol Starbucks promised to “replace the coffee with a correct label” when O’MARA contacted to protest. The chief eventually declined, stating that he was too cautious about the service he would receive. Corporate only addressed the issue following O’MARA’s outburst about the occurrence.

The chief said, “Just pour the coffee please. What annoys me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town. Are we at a place where even something as straightforward as pouring a very expensive cup of coffee is so difficult that it cannot be done without using one’s own words?

Former Starbucks manager Lola Price, quoted by KTUL, claims that she was wrongfully fired over the “PIG” label. She denies printing the label, claiming that a customer entered the name, and claims that Starbucks was only trying to take the fall for what was quickly becoming a public relations nightmare. “I was terminated from my position because Starbucks was looking for looking to take the blame for this and to save some face from their company,” Price claimed.

When she was abruptly fired, Price had been the cafe’s manager for nine months. She claimed to have been unaware of the occurrence until chief O’MARA contacted to voice his complaints over the label, according to the local media. She said she attempted to make it right by providing a replacement drink to make it appear like they were on top of everything, which they are, but they fired me without giving me a reason, adding, “I’ve never faced any sort of disciplinary action or anything like that.” I don’t understand why they would fire me from my job.

Price says that she was used as a scapegoat to restore the company’s reputation even though she insists she has never been in trouble with them before. Despite the label’s corporate office alleging that she was responsible, she insists that she was not involved in the label’s printing.

According to KATU2, Starbucks’ Jory Mendes said, “This is absolutely unacceptable and we are deeply sorry to the law enforcement officer who experienced this.” “We have also apologized directly to him, and we are working to connect with the police chief as well as to express our remorse,” Mendes added. The barista has been placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of our inquiry. This language is insulting and does not reflect our sincere gratitude for the hard work that police officers put forth to keep our communities secure.

Chief O’MARA claims that the employee who printed the obscene label later apologized to him, claiming that the word was intended as a joke. Nonetheless, he chose not to identify the offender or their position at the cafe.

Chief O’MARA is appreciative that the business apologized and took all required steps to make things right, but he says he won’t be going back to his cafe because he fears that this order might have been tampered with in more ways than just the label.

Price continues to assert her innocence and places the blame for the incorrectly labelled drink on an anonymous barista. Nonetheless, Starbucks has stuck with its decision to fire the former manager, prompting many to speculate about who was responsible for the incident.

  1. I hope the barista feels really bad about what they did. It was unacceptable and unprofessional. They have no business serving the public and should be fired. I am not sure about the manager’s firing and if she was a scapegoat for the incident. Awful something like this happened but it’s the sole responsibility of the barista. Shame on them!

  2. She said a CUSTOMER did it??? Really how naive does she think corporate is! I believe she was responsible and that’s why she was fired and not the barista!

  3. the company or manager should of known who printed those cups at that time in the shift and date ! so not keeping tabs on your subordinates cost you a job !

  4. The barista should be the one who should be fired at the most extreme and the manager should be retrained at the least as she was not directly responsible for the incident.

  5. I have an issue with this part of the article: “shocked by the racism that one of his officers experienced”

It doesn’t tell what Race the officer was. Pig is just a derogatory word for police officer and has nothing to do with race or racism. It is highly rude to use this term. I learned from my brother, a retired, then deceased officer said the term is police officer, not cop or pig. People need to clean up their language.
