The OnePlus Nord 5G was released to much fanfare in early 2021 as the company’s next flagship device, and it did not disappoint its fans. 

The price was one of the biggest factors that users were excited about, with the device coming in at half the cost of competing devices such as Apple’s iPhone 11i and Samsung’s Galaxy S10+ 5G, while still providing most of the same specifications and features that made those phones so popular.

Introduction

I have been waiting for the OnePlus Nord 5G for a long time. The specs looked terrific, and I was looking forward to experiencing them in person. After getting it for a few days and testing it out, I am ready to give you my thoughts on the OnePlus Nord 5G. 

First off, the OnePlus Nord 5G specs are incredible. When first turning it on, I immediately noticed how fast everything loaded and smoothly scrolling through apps felt. It is truly a great experience that feels seamless to me. Next up is the performance of the phone itself.

 It has some of the best battery life I have seen so far, which has made me enjoy this phone so much more than others I have used before it. What would make the OnePlus Nord 5G even better? Well, if there were wireless charging capabilities. 

That would make this phone perfect! But, other than that small detail (which can be easily overlooked), the OnePlus Nord 5G is an excellent phone with good performance and a great design. Let’s dive into the detailed review of it!

Price and availability

The OnePlus Nord 5G is available in 2021, and in 2022. It comes with a price tag of $329. It has an amazing price tag when we compare the specs and performance of this smartphone with other latest flagships in the market. Its price is depending on the country and region. 

But, definitely at $329 you get 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage so you won’t regret it! And, it’s also one of the best budget smartphones on the market! Overall, it’s worth the price tag very well. Looking for the latest and greatest phone? 

The OnePlus Nord 5G is a solid contender. With an in-display fingerprint scanner, all-day battery life, and a camera that’s on par with other 2021 flagships, you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Design & Build Quality

The OnePlus Nord 5G is light, thin, and well-designed with a curved glass back and a matte finish on the sides. The phone fits nicely in the palm of your hand and is easy to use with one hand. The screen is large, bright, and beautiful with great viewing angles. We also like that there’s no notch which means you get more screen real estate for content. 

The OnePlus Nord 5G features a large 6.4 display, however, it is still easy to hold thanks to its ergonomic design. It features an iPhone X-style notch which has less screen real estate than most of its competitors. 

The OnePlus Nord 5G also features dual-SIM capabilities, which is great for users who want to have multiple phone numbers. We do wish that OnePlus included more internal storage on their phones. Because this phone has no MicroSD Card Slot. Overall, the design and the build quality of this phone are amazing!

Display Quality

The OnePlus Nord 5G has a 4K display, with great color accuracy and viewing angles. This phone comes with Fluid AMOLED 6.44-inches 90Hz display with 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The phone is also very bright, which is great for outdoor use. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, which makes it scratch resistant and shatterproof. 

The screen is vivid and bright, with great contrast and wide viewing angles. The overall quality of video playback on that screen is excellent. The only minor niggle about its screen quality is that it does not have a full-screen display, as there are small black bezels along all four sides of its QHD+ display. 

Other than that, the OnePlus Nord 5G’s screen will please most users. It is vibrant enough to enjoy videos on sunny days but dark enough to read the text at night. 

It’s true that many modern smartphones now come with HDR displays, but the OnePlus Nord 5G offers impressive display performance without those higher prices. Overall, we think that this is one of the best values in today’s smartphone market when it comes to display quality.

Specs & Performance

The OnePlus Nord 5G also has all of the same specs as its predecessors so you know performance will be great. Specs-wise, the OnePlus Nord 5G is a powerhouse. It has a Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G 5G (7 nm) 2.4 octa-core processor with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of UFS 2.1 storage. 

This means that the phone won’t have any performance hiccups when you’re watching a 4K video on YouTube or taking multiple photos at night. The smartphone also features dual SIM slots but no headphone jack. 

There is no micro SD card slot but it does have dual SIM cards so your phone doesn’t need to be tied to one carrier. And if all this sounds too good to be true, know that OnePlus guarantees 30% faster speeds in their flagship phone than its predecessors because it supports both gigabit LTE networks and 5G networks simultaneously! 

In addition to its impressive performance, however, there are other reasons why you should consider buying a OnePlus Nord 5G. This is because it was built with durability in mind. OnePlus claims that the OnePlus Nord 5G can survive falls from up to 1 meter high, meaning that you don’t have to worry about your screen cracking just because it fell off your desk. 

What’s more, the phone comes with water resistance as well as face unlock so you don’t have to worry about being unable to use your device when it’s raining outside or after washing your face. All of these features make for a great device!

Camera

The OnePlus Nord 5G has a quad-lens camera on the back. It has a 48MP wide lens, 8MP ultrawide lens, 5MP depth lens, and in last 2MP macro lens. The OnePlus Nord5G has a 32MP wide and 8MP ultrawide front-facing camera for some really nice selfies. 

The OnePlus Nod 5G has some really nice features for anyone who takes photos and videos. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been trying to take a picture of my kids and I miss it because my hands were too big. With these wide-angle cameras, that won’t be a problem anymore. 

You can get in real close without getting in their faces, or get more of them if they are running around playing with friends. One of my favorite features is that I can take a photo or video with both cameras at once. This gives me lots of options when it comes to editing what I’m taking photos and videos of. 

I can get just a wide-angle shot, or one from each side to show perspective. The best part about this feature is that I don’t have to stop recording or snapping photos while using it. Overall, the camera quality is great on both the back and front.

Software & Features

The phone comes with Android 10, is upgradable to Android 12, OxygenOS 12 based on Android 10, and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 5G processor. Running on this processor, it is more than capable of handling multi-tasking and productivity on a whole other level. 

OnePlus also boasts the OnePlus Nord 5G as being able to perform up to 4 times faster than the OnePlus 7 from last year and up to 40% better graphics performance. With these specs in mind, you can only imagine how well this phone will handle anything you throw at it in the next few years! 

Software and features are what set OnePlus apart from other smartphone companies. The OnePlus platform – OxygenOS is known for its simplistic user experience and daily security updates. OnePlus includes privacy protection which has been adopted by many users in recent years. 

In terms of software and features, OnePlus continues to be innovative and one step ahead when it comes to performance and security. One of their most anticipated features is the fingerprint sensor that works flawlessly even in wet conditions or with gloves on. 

Other notable features include the inclusion of NFC, dual SIM capability (Nano-SIM), wide-angle selfie camera, and face unlock. These newest additions to OnePlus make our new OnePlus Nord 5G an excellent device for everyday use!

The OnePlus Nord 5G is a great phone that excels in some areas and falls short in others. The OnePlus Nord 5G has killer specs including a high-performance processor, fast charging, a generous battery, and tons of RAM to help with multitasking. 

The OnePlus Nord 5G also features the best display on any Android device to date with vibrant colors, an expansive screen size, and an edge-to-edge feel. The OnePlus Nord 5G has great audio but doesn’t deliver a crisp or clear audio experience when using headphones. 

The OnePlus Nord 5G is capable of producing an impressive soundstage with great lows, mids, and highs. It does not have true stereo speakers like some other phones do though. If you’re someone who needs earbuds or headphones to use your phone, the OnePlus Nord 5G delivers excellent sound quality through these devices as well as via its built-in speaker. 

The OnePlus Nord 5G’s performance comes down to what you want from your phone. If you need a premium camera, long-lasting battery life, and large storage space for all your apps and games, this might not be the right choice for you. 

However, if you are looking for a phone that looks good, performs well, and costs less than $400 then the OnePlus Nord 5G is worth considering.

Battery life & charging

Even though the OnePlus Nord 5G is a large phone, it still manages to last a day on a single charge. It has a 4115 mAh battery life. You can make it through the day without having to worry about charging your phone. 

The 12GB of RAM and Snapdragon 765 processor also help keep things running smoothly without draining the battery too fast. One downside to battery life on large phones is that they take a long time to charge. Fortunately, OnePlus added fast charging with support for 30W charging. 

Even though it takes over 1 hour to fully charge, it’s one of the fastest chargers you can get your hands on right now. In just 15 minutes, you’ll get an additional 8 hours of power. With both these features, it will be easier than ever before to always have enough power when you need it.

Final Verdict – Should you buy it?

The OnePlus Nord 5G is a phone worth waiting for. It has excellent specs, great performance, and an eye-catching design. If you’re looking for an affordable flagship, then you should definitely consider OnePlus Nord 5G. 

The OnePlus Nord 5G is a great choice if you can get it at its reduced price. It offers a fantastic experience and all of its most important specs are excellent. You won’t find anything better at such a low price tag!
